Abstract

Companies need to integrate digital technologies to attract talent and promote new business models. Therefore, the objective was to study digital transformation through an analysis of the digitalization and automation of business processes. Documentary, descriptive, and exploratory research was conducted through a bibliographic review, working with the PRISMA method and conceptualizing the "Digital Transformation," "Digitalization," and "Automation" of companies. Companies are under pressure not only to alter their existing business models but also to operate within a portfolio of different business models. In this case, digitalization has been identified as one of the main trends that will transform society and businesses in the short and long term. When linked to process automation within companies, this allows for improved quality and control of the entire range of products or services. It was concluded that digital transformation has become an opportunity to increase business value. At the same time, business digitalization has established itself as a key step in digital transformation, as it not only converts products into digital versions but also generates new ways of working and business models. Finally, it was confirmed that process automation, along with digitalization and digital transformation, have become strategic allies for institutions, as their application allows them to optimize resources, reduce costs, and increase their productivity.
