Abstract

Improving productivity is a strategic factor in enhancing the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises engaged in water bottling, where the efficiency of manual processes directly influences production capacity and resource utilization. The objective of this research was to improve the productivity of the water bottle conditioning and bottling process through the application of a methods and time study. Average, normal, and standard times were calculated, along with efficiency and productivity indicators, complemented by Pareto analysis and the identification of bottlenecks to identify opportunities for improvement. The results showed a cumulative standard work content of 1,86 min/bottle and an initial recorded production rate of approximately 51 bottles/hour. Bottle brushing had the longest standard time, at 0,54 min/bottle, accounting for 29,03% of the total work content. Based on these findings, improvement proposals were developed to enhance work organization and reduce unproductive time. The proposed scenario yielded an estimated potential production rate of 58 bottles/hour, representing a 13,7% increase compared with the initial production rate. It was concluded that the study provided a technical basis for identifying improvement opportunities and supporting decision-making, although the projected results require validation through implementation and subsequent measurements.
