Protección social en países Latinos: Indicadores de cobertura de protección social y servicios básicos

Resumen

La protección social se ha convertido en un pilar fundamental de los esfuerzos mundiales para aliviar la pobreza, reducir la desigualdad y fomentar la resiliencia económica. El objetivo fue, explorar los indicadores de cobertura de la protección social y servicios básicos, en países Latinos en desarrollo. Se aplicó un enfoque de carácter cuantitativo, cualitativo, descriptivo y crítico, los datos fueron provenientes del Centro de gestión del conocimiento estadístico, se analizó cobertura de asistencia social, seguro social, mercado laboral, agua potable, y saneamiento, se evaluaron los países Latinos durante 2018 a 2024. En la asistencia social, Bolivia (97,9 %), Perú (87, 5%) y Argentina (41,4 %) tuvieron una expansión acelerada en 2020; en el caso del seguro social, Argentina resaltó con niveles superiores al 31 %; Perú mostró un incremento en el mercado laboral del 0,2 al 1,7 % en 2022, exponiendo una reactivación laboral; en el acceso a servicios básicos de agua potable, México se destaca con una cobertura de 99,5 % (niveles casi universales); en la cobertura de saneamiento, Colombia se muestra como un referente, no solo por su cobertura (96,6 %), sino por su capacidad de expansión. Los países como Bolivia, Perú y Argentina implementaron modelos de asistencia social casi universales; Argentina mantiene una base consolidada en el seguro social; el mercado laboral presenta una debilidad marcada por la volatilidad presupuestaria; en la cobertura de agua potable México es el país que lidera este indicador; en materia de saneamiento, Colombia se posiciona como el referente regional.
