This study analyzes the financial position of Ecuador's Public Hydrocarbon Company EP PETROECUADOR during the 2022–2024 period, using institutional financial information and horizontal, vertical, and financial ratio analysis. The research adopts a quantitative, descriptive, and documentary approach. The composition of assets, liabilities, and equity is examined, together with current liquidity, indebtedness, and return on assets and equity. Results show that total assets decreased during the period, from USD 20.49 billion in 2022 to USD 18.83 billion in 2024. In contrast, total liabilities increased from USD 4.00 billion to USD 5.58 billion, while equity decreased from USD 16.49 billion to USD 13.25 billion. Current liquidity remained above one during the three years, although it decreased in 2024 compared with 2023. Asset indebtedness increased from 19.53% in 2022 to 29.62% in 2024. Profitability also showed a downward trend, with ROA falling from 23.23% to 14.27%. These results highlight the need to strengthen liability management, operational efficiency, financial planning, and risk control.
