System of activities for the development of oral language in 5-year-old children

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to conduct a descriptive study on the development of oral language in 5-year-old children at the Isabel Icaza De Estrada Public School in order to offer recommendations and alternatives for teaching resources that benefit performance, with the aim of strengthening oral language skills in children. Oral language is key to development from an early age, given its importance in communicating within society and knowing how to function on a day-to-day basis. Oral language enables children's cognitive learning from the start of their education. The aim of this study is to design a system of activities for the development of oral language in 5-year-old children, enabling them to improve their effective communication. The instrument used was an observation form for 5-year-old children. The results indicated that teachers at the institution carry out activities aimed at developing oral language skills. However, they do not have an organized and feasible system for this issue, as it was observed that children retain information from activities carried out in recreational games. It was concluded that the system of activities will certainly improve oral skills from the beginning of early childhood education.
