Abstract

Textile companies generate a significant environmental impact; therefore, the current practices and sustainability strategies of the environmental management system in the industry must be analyzed. Thus, the study aims to evaluate the current practices and sustainability strategies of the environmental management system in the textile industry, focusing on Texcodi Cía. Ltda. The applied method was a case study. All documented information of the Environmental Management System was examined, interviews and audits were conducted. The results highlight the importance of documenting and standardizing procedures, records, manuals, etc. The allocation of responsibilities, indicators, resources, schedules, and staff training is emphasized to achieve sustainability in the strategies. The conclusions emphasized the importance of organizational commitment, precise identification of environmental impacts, and adherence to international standards for effective and sustainable environmental management. It should be noted that the research used in this work is multidisciplinary, since it incorporates management, engineering, environmental law and new technologies, making it easier for all the problems of sustainability in the textile industry to be treated jointly.
