Construcción de un índice de gestión forestal sostenible para evaluar el cumplimiento del ODS 15.2 en seis países latinoamericanos

Los bosques cumplen funciones esenciales, para el equilibrio ambiental, ya que favorecen la conservación de la biodiversidad, la regulación climática, la protección de los suelos, y el almacenamiento de carbono; sin embargo, existe la necesidad de fortalecer la gestión forestal sostenible, y de evaluar de manera integral, los avances vinculados al ODS 15.2. Por ello el objetivo fue; analizar comparativamente, los avances hacia la gestión forestal sostenible en seis países de América Latina, mediante los indicadores vinculados al ODS 15.2. Se desarrolló un estudio cuantitativo, comparativo, y longitudinal en Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, México y Perú, durante el período 2000-2025; se examinaron cuatro variables: superficie boscosa, biomasa aérea, superficie forestal certificada, y porcentaje de superficie bajo planes de gestión de largo plazo, el análisis incluyó estadística descriptiva, correlaciones, regresión, análisis de componentes principales, conglomerados y la construcción de un Índice de Gestión Forestal Sostenible. Los hallazgos revelaron diferencias significativas entre países; Ecuador presentó el mejor desempeño general, seguido de Perú y Colombia; la superficie boscosa, mostró la relación más fuerte con la gestión de largo plazo, mientras que la certificación forestal, no evidenció una asociación consistente con los demás indicadores.
