Abstract

Introduction: The ESAMyN regulation is a strategy aimed at strengthening comprehensive, humanized, and intercultural care for the mother-child dyad and reducing maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality. Objective: To determine the level of knowledge and application of the ESAMyN health regulation among personnel working at Marco Vinicio Iza General Hospital and to establish the relationship between both variables. Materials and methods: A quantitative, documentary, descriptive, cross-sectional, correlational, and non-experimental study was conducted. The sample included 252 workers selected through simple random sampling. An 18-item closed-ended Likert-type questionnaire was applied, and data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson’s chi-square test. Results: A total of 37.7% knew the regulation, 40.1% had moderate knowledge, and 22.2% did not know it. Only 24.6% always applied it. A statistically significant association was found between knowledge and application. Conclusion: Greater knowledge of the ESAMyN regulation was associated with better application in hospital practice, highlighting the need for continuous institutional strengthening through ongoing training, supervision, evaluation, and service-based monitoring to improve the quality and safety of maternal and neonatal care delivery.
