Abstract

In higher technological institutes, educational innovation has been addressed as one of the fundamental aspects of student training. In this case, the focus is on Physical Rehabilitation technologists, where efforts have been made to improve skills in various subjects of the program through gamification and adaptive learning with artificial intelligence. The objective of the study was to evaluate the impact of gamification and AI-based adaptive learning on the academic performance of students enrolled in the Neurological Therapy course within the Physical Rehabilitation Technology program. A mixed-method research approach was employed, combining an experimental design with both quantitative and qualitative analyses. Gamified strategies and AI-based tools were implemented throughout the academic semester, and the variables assessed included academic performance, student motivation, and active class participation. The analysis of results demonstrated a significant increase in student motivation and performance, as well as an improvement in group interaction. It is concluded that the strategies employed constituted an effective resource for enhancing both the teaching process and the academic performance of Physical Rehabilitation technologists, thereby supporting their comprehensive education and adaptation to individual needs.
