This study examines musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) as an important issue that affects workers in the banana industry. In this type of production, employees are often exposed to physically demanding tasks, long periods of uncomfortable postures, and the use of different manual and mechanical tools. These conditions can increase ergonomic risks and negatively affect workers’ health. The main purpose of this research is to analyze how MSDs impact pesticide applicators working in a banana company. A quantitative approach was used, involving 60 workers between 19 and 51 years old. The study has a descriptive and correlational design. To collect the information, the Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire was applied in order to identify the most affected body areas. In addition, ergonomic risk levels were evaluated using the REBA method, allowing a comparison between risk exposure and the presence of MSDs. The data were analyzed using SPSS software. The findings indicate that MSDs have a considerable effect on workers, especially in areas such as the shoulders, upper back, and neck. It was also observed that these disorders are closely related to job performance and ergonomic risk factors. Overall, MSDs represent a serious occupational health concern in the banana sector. Therefore, it is important to implement measures that help reduce ergonomic risks and improve working conditions, as well as promote the use of better technology in production processes.
