Abstract

Occupational exposure to pesticides in farming is a major health risk for workers, especially when proper prevention and safety measures are not in place. At “La Bagatela” farm, this issue is clear in the way chemicals are mixed, applied, and stored. The goal of this study was to design control measures to lower workers’ exposure to these substances. We carried out a descriptive study using both qualitative and quantitative methods: direct observation, surveys, and risk assessment.  We found that many workers do not use protective gear properly, handling practices are unsafe, and training is limited. Based on these findings, we proposed a set of solutions following the standard hierarchy of controls: replacing highly hazardous products, improving working conditions, strengthening management rules, and ensuring correct use of personal protective equipment. The study concludes that applying these measures will reduce risks and lead to better, safer working conditions.
