Abstract

The research aimed to evaluate the general research competencies of the professional profile in graduates of the education sciences program at the National University "Siglo XX". A non-experimental, cross-sectional, and sequential exploratory design was used within a mixed-methods approach. The qualitative phase consisted of documentary analysis based on 5 scientific articles and 7 undergraduate theses, while the quantitative phase involved surveys of 20 graduates selected through purposive and intergenerational sampling. Additionally, an evaluation protocol was designed, organized into dimensions, criteria, and indicators, and validated by 7 experts using the Delphi method through a questionnaire with 5 criteria: theoretical foundations, relevance, suitability, applicability, and currency. The qualitative results identified a moderate level of research competencies, highlighting the need to improve epistemological positioning, review the state of the art, design and validation of instruments, data analysis, presenting research papers at academic conferences, writing and publishing scientific articles, and using ICTs. The quantitative results identified a moderate to high level, ranging from 60% to 70%. To validate the proposal, the Delphi method was applied to seven experts with experience in education, research, intellectual production, and curriculum management. The results yielded a rating of "quite adequate" (0.74) and "adequate" (0.96). The proposed evaluation protocol offers a comprehensive framework for planning, criteria, indicators, procedures, and continuous assessment, complemented by a digital manual, online tools, and tutorials, which strengthen and foster curricular innovations in higher education.
