Reading skills and their impact on the development of writing in basic secondary school.

The development of reading skills is essential in the academic training of high school students, because it not only facilitates the comprehension of texts, but also influences writing. The objective of this research study is to analyze the incidences of reading skills and their development of writing in basic secondary school. And it allows us to identify which are key strategies in relation to reading and writing. The research methodology is through systematic review, with a PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) approach. Scopus, Google scholar, Scielo and Dialnet were used as databases with keywords "Reading skills", "relationship of reading and writing", "incidence of reading and writing", "development of writing","secondary education" and "secondary education". A total sample of 10 articles between 2024-2025 was obtained. As results, the following findings were obtained that reading has a great influence on writing, because it facilitates the comprehension of the text, that reading and writing help to improve the language skills of students and promote their creativity, through books, stories, poems and the continuous monitoring of reading and writing skills are essential to identify the individual needs of students and provide support and effective feedback.
