Abstract

This research analyzes the influence of innovative teaching strategies on strengthening the communicative skills of elementary school students at the Dr. Javier Valdivieso Educational Unit, located in the Espíndola canton, Loja province. The study, conducted using a qualitative approach with a non-experimental descriptive design, employed techniques such as observation, a survey administered to teachers at this grade level, and a checklist developed by the students. The results show that, although teachers recognize the importance of oral and written expression, the use of traditional methodologies predominates, which limits the development of complex communicative competencies. Students demonstrate strengths in basic skills such as auditory attention and sentence formation, but exhibit weaknesses in the organization of ideas, narrative sequencing, and use of connectors. The theoretical analysis confirms that active methodologies, digital resources, and play-based strategies significantly improve fluency, coherence, and communicative confidence. It is concluded that the systematic implementation of innovative teaching strategies strengthens oral and written expression, improves student motivation, and contributes to the integral development of students, especially in rural contexts with limited educational resources.
