Abstract

The present study aims to analyze ergonomic risk factors associated with manual handling of loads in the storage operations of industrial machinery used in cocoa processing. In this context, it seeks to understand how daily activities that involve physical effort may affect workers' health, particularly due to the development of musculoskeletal disorders caused by continuous physical strain.

To carry out this study, a quantitative, descriptive, and applied approach was adopted. In addition, direct observation of the tasks performed by workers was conducted, allowing for a more realistic understanding of the conditions under which they carry out their daily activities. Likewise, ergonomic assessment methods such as RULA, REBA, and the NIOSH lifting equation were applied to analyze aspects such as working postures, load weight, and repetitive movements during the workday. Observation sheets and field records were also used to collect the necessary information.

The results obtained show the presence of ergonomic risk levels ranging from moderate to high, especially in tasks that involve lifting, transporting, and storing machinery manually. This may represent a significant impact on workers' health if appropriate preventive measures are not implemented. Therefore, it is essential to adopt preventive actions that contribute to improving working conditions, reducing risks, and promoting workers' well-being in this sector.
