Strategic Leadership and Transformative Management in Education: A Systematic Review

Abstract

Educational leadership has undergone significant evolution in recent decades, shifting from traditional administrative approaches toward strategic and transformative models focused on learning. This article aims to analyze, through a systematic review, the main trends related to strategic leadership and transformative management in educational institutions. The methodology is based on a qualitative analysis of the document Dirección Estratégica y Gestión Transformadora de Centros Educativos (2025), which integrates recent academic literature and contributions from international organizations such as UNESCO and OECD. The results show that school leadership acts as an indirect but key factor in improving learning outcomes, as it influences organizational conditions, teacher professional development, and the construction of collaborative cultures. It is concluded that contemporary educational management requires systemic, ethical, and adaptive approaches to address complex contexts.
