Abstract

The aim of the current study was to analyze how making interactive stories with AI and AR affects children in elementary and middle school, especially in terms of their enthusiasm, storytelling skills, and knowing how to use digital objects. They took a mixed-methods approach, combining digital literacy with real-world ideas, using a quasi-experimental setup with pre- and post-tests, control and experimental groups, plus some on-site observations and chats. They used a bunch of different tools like Likert questionnaires, storytelling assessments, observational assessments, and logbooks, in addition to some story content. The results show some pretty big leaps in creativity, making the stories flow better and more complex, plus students seem more enthusiastic and work together. Similarly, we've seen that being good with digital objects and doing things the right way really helps with learning and engagement. Research shows that combining AI with AR in schools works well, giving us a robust, repeatable, and large-scale way to boost multimodal literacy and shake things up in education.
